You know I must have my power pop. I must. Without it I shall die. This song is brill. Zero Friction in my life. From the lovely Pres’s's of the USA who gave us the quirky hit “Lump” back in the 90′s. They keep making lovely records, and this one puts a big smile on my SuperfanFace

Lene Lovich – “Wonderful One”
Well I’ve always felt that Lene Lovich is pretty wonderful, so I can’t contain my delight that I found a new single and album from her in the vast reaches of IODA’s ever growing long tail. The music on this track is so brilliant, every little sound is right behind her instantly recognizable voice, helping her tell the story. A romantic new wave treasure.

Here We Go Magic- “Fangela”
Based on this promotrack I can say this eponymous album is well named. “Here We Go Magic” indeed. Fangela is a beautiful and mysterious flight into unknown waters that are warm and swirly and you just want to stay there and float even if it’s dark and you can no longer see the shore. Home recording with a delicious lo-fi quality but it’s fully realized art, this is not a “demo”- even if the cat made it on a four track with a basic Shure 57 mic. A song you’ll want to keep because you’ll find it different from anything in your collection but at the same time pleasantly familiar. Excellent.

The Fresh & Onlys – “Peacock and Wing”
Rock and roll seems to be born again every time someone launches into it with such sincerity and wreckless abandon as this. Seething with lust and delightful garage band cacophany, dear readers, I give you, The Fresh & Onlys. This song is downright stunning. Velvet Underground meets Clash at Jefferson Airplane’s house, only more crazy. Top notch work from this San Francisco band.

Music is my passion, and I bask in its sonic glow everyday. There has been so much stupendous music made recently, regardless of the shriveling record industry.
This GR8 music has somehow been ignored and relegated to a second-class status it honestly doesn’t deserve. Being the uber-fan that I am, I found it necessary to blog about this attention-worthy music. Because of my immense passion, I feel like it’s my sole responsibility to take you directly to as much of this music as I can find. I just want to share the fun with fellow music lovers, while helping the music creators.

From the time I discovered there was a world of great music seething beyond my brother’s record collection, I have spent the majority of my energy exploring music that is new to me. I grew up listening to hip-hop, electronic and jazz. By the time I was 14 I started bedroom DJing. During high school I started my perpetual mixtape quest. Eventually I amassed enough gear and dirty-used records to turn what should have been a laundry room into a home studio. “Sick“. It was during that exciting time that I first heard of the MP3 format. I immediately saw how artists like myself would be able to exploit the new technology as a vehicle for delivering music straight to music lovers.
